OverviewRidge Meadows Hospital (RMH) is seeking qualified physicians to join our well established and very busy Hospitalist program in a permanent (full time/part time) capacity. Applicants should have a strong interest in developing a permanent acute care hospital practice and working collaboratively with all members of the inter-professional team, including medical staff, Nurse Practitioners, and Allied Health staff.ResponsibilitiesAdmit and manage unattached patients as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP).Provide supportive care for some surgical and specialty medical patients.Demonstrate superior clinical and communication skills, bedside manner, and people management abilities.Be proficient with the range of hospital and community resources available in the local institution.Collaborate with specialist and community-based physicians to optimize patient care and discharge planning processes.Engage in clinical and non-clinical activities (e.g., quality improvement projects, committees, academic excellence) to contribute to the evolving field of hospital medicine.Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and ongoing professional development through academic and CME activities relevant to acute care medicine.New graduates should demonstrate hospital medicine proficiency through electives and relevant rotations; candidates with post-graduate Fellowship training in hospital medicine will be given preference.Shifts & SchedulingShifts: There are 10 hour shifts (7am-5pm) Monday to Sunday. An evening admitting shift (4 admissions) from 5-11pm is staffed on a rotational basis and is compensated at the usual hourly rate. There are virtual evening shifts (5-11pm) and 9 hour virtual overnight shifts (11pm-8am), which can be done from home but are only available to those physicians who do day and evening admitting shifts. Scheduling is done three months in advance and is “preferential/flexible scheduling”, not block rotations.EligibilityCandidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC). Hospitalist experience is strongly suggested, and membership in professional hospital medicine societies is an asset.CompensationCompensation Type: Alternative Payment Arrangement.
