Director of Technical Accounting

Working with a large, global consumer-facing company (well-known brand portfolio) looking to bring on a Director of Technical Accounting. This is a high-impact, visible role at the intersection of technical accounting, SEC reporting, and policy, with regular exposure to senior leadership and the audit committee.Responsibilities:Own specific technical accounting areas and related disclosures within quarterly and annual SEC filings.Support accounting matters related to pension and other post-employment benefit plans, share-based compensation, earnings per share, and other complex areas.Conduct technical accounting and SEC reporting research, including preparation of technical accounting memoranda.Provide U.S. GAAP guidance to corporate and subsidiary finance teams.Monitor new accounting standards and reporting requirements, and lead implementation efforts where applicable.Serve as a liaison with internal and external auditors on technical accounting, internal controls, financial policies, and SEC reporting matters.Partner with key stakeholders to develop, revise, and maintain financial policies and procedures.Prepare quarterly accounting and regulatory update materials for the Audit Committee.Support quarterly Sarbanes-Oxley controls and certification processes.Participate in senior management-sponsored special projects.Provide training and development to the broader finance organization, as needed.Requirements:12+ years of experience in technical accounting, ideally a mix of Big 4 (Senior Manager/National Office/FAAS) and industryCPA required
