Mechanic – Offshore Operations
Shell is seeking experienced and safety-focused Mechanics to support offshore production operations in the Gulf of America. This role is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation and maintenance of mechanical systems that support offshore facilities. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong personal safety leadership, mechanical discipline, and commitment to Shell’s values, One GoA Mindset, and operating standards.What’s The RoleAs a Mechanic – Offshore Operations, you will be responsible for the following duties:Accountabilities:Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot offshore mechanical systems and equipmentPerform maintenance on rotating and static equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, piping, and pressure vesselsMaintain mechanical safety ‑ critical and environmental barriers in alignment with SEMS and the SEAM FrameworkPerform equipment isolations, lock ‑ out/tag ‑ out, and permit ‑ to ‑ work activitiesIdentify, troubleshoot, and report mechanical equipment failures or abnormal conditionsExecute routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance in accordance with approved procedures and maintenance systemsSupport commissioning, testing, and equipment readiness activities as requiredExercise Stop Work authority and actively promote a strong safety cultureCollaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to ensure safe and reliable operationsWork LocationGulf of America (Offshore)Candidates must be willing to work at any Shell offshore asset, based on business needsWork assignments may change over time to support operational and maintenance requirementsWork ScheduleOffshore rotation: 14 days on / 14 days offTransportation provided by helicopter or boat for crew changeWhat We Need From YouMust be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visaMust be at least 18 years of ageMust have a high school diploma or equivalent requiredRecent Offshore Upstream Gulf of America (GoA) experience, with current contractor experience supporting Shell’s Gulf of America operationsAbility to speak, read, and write in EnglishAbility to work in offshore conditions, including climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, and working outdoorsSuccessful completion of the Shell Operations Aptitude Test (within 5 days of submitting application)Fulfillment of asset ‑ specific mechanical competency and training requirementsCertified NCCER Industrial Millwright or Offshore Maintenance MechanicTransportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)HUET (Helicopter Underwater Egress Training)Demonstrated capability as an informal leader of safety and cultureAbility to pass pre-employment medical evaluation, drug screen, and background checkAbility to work on elevated platforms and gratingAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)This position is safety critical and subject to applicable regulatory requirementsShell is an equal opportunity employer. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
