Join our global DevOps and Common Tools Team within R&D, where you'll have direct impact on the development infrastructure supporting VIAVI's Assurance Product portfolio-solutions that ensure telecommunication networks worldwide operate at peak performance.In this role, you'll architect and manage cutting-edge DevSecOps toolchains, automate infrastructure workflows, and drive platform innovations that directly enhance developer productivity across our global engineering organization.Duties & Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:Strategic ResponsibilitiesResearch and evaluate emerging DevOps tools, technologies, and best practicesManage R&D tools budget for Software Engineering and Network Engineering groupsDefine and implement comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategiesDrive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance developer workflowsManage software licenses and track costs across the tools portfolioTool Administration & ManagementAdminister enterprise DevOps toolchain including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, GitLab, SonarQube, Tenable.sc, Nessus, JFrog Artifactory/Xray/JAS, Vault, and license serversHelp drive the administration and adoption of AI-driven automation and intelligent toolsMaintain system security through SSL/TLS certificate management and timely security patchesPerform version upgrades, patch management, and OS updates (RHEL/Rocky/Oracle Linux/Ubuntu)Configure and maintain NGINX reverse proxy for secure HTTPS accessEnsure comprehensive backup coverage and validate restore procedures for all critical systemsManage and maintain monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Graylog, and Node ExporterInfrastructure & Platform ManagementDesign and deploy automated OS installation systems via PXE bootManage virtual environments across MS Hyper-V, VMware, Proxmox, and OpenStack platformsMonitor system performance, optimize resource allocation, and plan capacityImplement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Atlassian and GitLab toolsConfigure Linux networking, manage storage systems, and maintain server architectureSet up, configure, and maintain lab networking environments using Cisco IOS and Dell OS10 switches (VLANs, trunking, port security, link aggregation, etc.)Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues across multiple geographical sites, including hands-on switch configuration and diagnosticUser Support & CollaborationProvide tier 2/3 support for developer tooling requests and technical issuesManage user access provisioning through Active Directory group administrationTroubleshoot issues efficiently, distinguishing between system problems and user errorsCreate clear documentation and provide training on tooling best practicesCollaborate cross-functionally to understand and meet development team needsPre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 5+ years of DevOps/Systems Engineering experienceAbility to work in an ITAR setting is requiredExpert-level Linux system administration (RHEL 7/8/9 or Rocky/Oracle Linux preferred)Strong scripting and automation skills (Python and Bash/Shell required;
