Apply today and help us shape the future of work—togetherRole OverviewWe are seeking a senior-level Azure Data Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and enterprise database administration. This individual will play a hands-on leadership role in managing, troubleshooting, and driving data platform reliability and performance across a complex client environment.This is not a passive support role. The ideal candidate is someone who will step in, take ownership of data pipelines and database operations, and proactively identify and resolve issues—often in high-pressure or ambiguous situations with demanding stakeholders.This role is best suited for a practitioner who can balance deep technical execution with client engagement, operate across vendor ecosystems, and lead critical data loading and platform operations end-to-end.Engagement FocusLong-term contract supporting a mission-critical data platformEmphasis on stability, performance improvement, and operational ownershipRequires a resource who can operate independently and lead through ambiguityNot advisory—this is a hands-on execution and delivery roleKey ResponsibilitiesAzure SQL Platform Administration & OptimizationAdminister and manage Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure SQL databases in production environmentsPerform database performance tuning, including indexing strategies, query plan analysis, and workload optimizationDiagnose and resolve locking, blocking, and concurrency issuesImplement and manage database security, user access, and role-based permissionsEnsure robust backup, recovery, and high availability practicesData Factory (ADF) Engineering & OperationsDesign, build, and maintain ADF pipelines for batch and incremental data loadingAdminister ADF environments, including monitoring, scheduling, and failure handlingTroubleshoot pipeline failures, integration issues, and performance bottlenecksAnalyze execution logs and metrics to identify systemic issues in data processing workflowsEnsure pipelines are resilient, scalable, and operationally supportableData Load Process OwnershipTake end-to-end ownership of data loading processes, from ingestion through validationLead efforts to stabilize, standardize, and improve existing pipelinesIdentify root causes of failures and implement durable, repeatable fixesCoordinate across teams to ensure data availability and integrityEstablish and enforce monitoring, alerting, and operational disciplineAutomation & ScriptingDevelop and maintain automation using Python and/or PowerShellAutomate operational workflows such as environment validation, monitoring, and remediationReduce manual intervention through repeatable scripting solutionsAzure Infrastructure & DevOps IntegrationWork within Azure environments to support infrastructure dependencies impacting data workloadsUtilize Azure DevOps (ADO) for:Managing database schema changesVersioning and promoting ADF pipelinesContribute to CI/CD practices for data platform deploymentsDelivery & Stakeholder EngagementWork directly with client stakeholders, internal teams, and third-party vendorsOperate effectively in environments with unclear ownership, legacy systems, or process gapsCommunicate clearly around issues, risks, and remediation strategiesDemonstrate a willingness to take initiative, assume ownership, and drive outcomesRequired Qualifications7+ years of experience in database administration, data engineering, or data platform operationsDeep hands-on expertise with:Azure SQL Managed Instance / Azure SQL DatabaseAzure Data Factory (pipeline development and administration)Strong experience in SQL query optimization and performance tuningProven ability to diagnose and resolve:Locking/blocking issuesData pipeline failuresPerformance bottlenecksExperience managing database user access and security administrationHands-on experience with Python and/or PowerShell scriptingExperience with Azure DevOps (ADO) for managing code and deploymentsStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret logs and debug data processesAbility to work independently in complex, high-pressure environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting large-scale or high-volume data environmentsExposure to multi-vendor or hybrid data ecosystemsFamiliarity with broader Azure services supporting enterprise data platformsPrior experience in client-facing or consulting rolesExperience stabilizing or inheriting underperforming data environmentsWhat Success Looks LikeData pipelines run reliably with minimal disruptionDatabase performance issues are identified early and resolved quicklyData load processes are owned, documented, and continuously improvingStakeholders gain confidence in the platform and its stabilityThe environment shifts from reactive issue management to proactive controlThe individual becomes the go-to resource for platform reliability and executionNew Era Technology, LLC., and its subsidiaries ("New Era" "we", "us", or "our") in its operating regions worldwide are committed to respecting your privacy and recognize the need for appropriate protection and management of any Personal Data that you may provide us.
