Formwork Engineer I - Denver, CO
The Formwork Engineer supports projects by preparing structural formwork calculations, drafting detailed structural concrete and formwork drawings and coordinating closely with project teams to ensure design accuracy, safety, and cost efficiency. This role helps identify and resolve technical issues, manages document control, and ensures timely delivery of up-to-date drawings and information to field teams.Primary ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the planning phase of projects to incorporate the most efficient, safe, and economical formwork systems into the designPrepare structural formwork calculationsPerform structural quality control walks to ensure installed design meets criteriaPrepare concrete structure and formwork drawings by incorporating information from project drawings, bulletins, sketches, RFIs, and other trade shop drawings, and coordinate submittals with customersReview and analyze project documents to identify conflicts, missing information, and specification gaps; suggest solutions to improve productivity and cost efficiencyCoordinate with field supervisors to plan and oversee material and equipment needs, including ordering, inventory control, and transportation, to ensure availability and efficient use on projectsAttend project meetings to resolve technical issues and track project progressionReview bulletins and change orders to identify, quantify, and incorporate changes into project drawings; notify project management of cost impactsEnsure timely delivery of up-to-date drawings and instructions to job sitesMaintain and update logs for RFIs, product submittals, and drawings; manage storage of shop drawings and contract documentsSupport operational safety goals by identifying and communicating potential hazards during the detailing stage. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned to support organizational goalsDevelops and maintains customer relationships to enhance company’s ability to procure projectsMinimum QualificationsA bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or relevant area of education and/or equivalent combination of education and experienceEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certificationStrong mathematical and visualization skillsAbility to read and understand drawingsCompleted coursework in computer-aided drafting/building informationProficiency in Microsoft Suite – Excel, Word, OutlookAbility to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks, with an emphasis on thoroughness, attention to detail, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skills.
