Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support core accounting operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Jacksonville, Florida. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, managing a high volume of transactions, and helping strengthen the close process to achieve a more efficient monthly timeline. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of transaction flow, sound judgment in general ledger activity, and the ability to work effectively in a highly manual accounting environment.Responsibilities:• Lead monthly close activities and help reduce the overall close cycle to a more timely and consistent schedule.• Prepare, review, and post journal entries while ensuring supporting documentation is complete and accurate.• Maintain the general ledger by analyzing account activity and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.• Perform detailed account reconciliations to confirm balances are accurate and financial data is reliable.• Complete bank reconciliations and investigate variances across multiple accounts and transaction types.• Manage a significant volume of accounting activity resulting from evolving business operations and increased transaction counts.• Evaluate transaction flow across processes to identify issues, improve accuracy, and support stronger financial controls.• Assist with manual accounting procedures and contribute recommendations that improve efficiency and consistency.• Strong experience managing month-end close activities in a fast-paced accounting environment.• Proficiency with general ledger accounting, including journal entry preparation and account analysis.• Hands-on experience performing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.• Solid understanding of end-to-end transaction flow and its impact on financial reporting.• Ability to work effectively in a process-heavy, manual environment with changing priorities.• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when identifying discrepancies and resolving issues.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
