Accounting Specialist
The Accounting Specialist will be a key contributor to the Finance team, responsible for managing expense-related accounting activities and partnering closely with on-site operational leaders to ensure sound financial controls. This role owns accounts payable functions and supports fixed asset accounting and related balance sheet reconciliations.The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional who takes ownership of their work, applies best practices consistently, and looks for opportunities to improve processes. This role is well-suited for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and values accountability and continuous improvement.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESManage end-to-end accounts payable processes, including:Reviewing invoice and purchase order codingVerifying required approvalsPartnering with internal teams to resolve discrepanciesReview invoices for accuracy and identify potential cost-saving opportunitiesProcess employee expense reports using an expense management systemPartner with department leaders to support responsible spending, including quotes, bids, and expense planningIndependently research and resolve complex accounting issues or exceptionsMaintain and update Excel schedules related to prepaid expenses, deferred expenses, and similar accountsMaintain the fixed assets subledger and supporting documentationMaintain vendor documentation, including tax and compliance recordsPerform monthly bank reconciliationsReconcile intercompany transactions on a monthly basisProtect sensitive financial information and maintain confidentialitySupport special projects and ad hoc initiatives as assignedWork independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines and business needsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; experience with mid-market accounting systems preferredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to collaborate across teamsHighly organized, detail-oriented, and analyticalSelf-motivated with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environmentAbility to multitask, work under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines
