Lead Software Systems EngineerAustin, TX (On-site- Hours Flexible) Full-timeWe are looking for an experienced Lead Software Systems Engineer to drive the architecture, development, and delivery of complex software and embedded systems supporting robotics, machinery, and real-world autonomous platforms.This is a hands-on leadership role where you will work closely with hardware, robotics, and product teams to build scalable, reliable systems from the ground up. The role is based on-site in Austin, TX, with flexible working hours and a strong focus on collaboration and engineering ownership.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture, design, and development of complex software and system-level solutionsDrive development across embedded, Linux-based, and distributed software systemsWork closely with hardware, robotics, mechanical, and product teams to deliver reliable real-world systemsMentor and support engineers while setting technical direction and best practicesConduct code reviews and ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable softwareIdentify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and system limitations earlyImprove CI/CD pipelines, testing, and development workflowsSupport system integration and deployment in real-world environmentsRequired: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a technical leadership role (hard requirement)Strong programming experience in C++, Python, Java, or C# (C++ strongly preferred)Experience building system-level or embedded softwareExperience with Linux-based systems, distributed systems, or microservicesExperience working with hardware-integrated software or real-world machinery/robotics systemsFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Strong communication and leadership skillsAbility to mentor engineers and drive technical directionPreferred: Experience working with smaller teamsPrevious experience with start-ups is a plusRelevant industry experience (Defense + Space Machinery)Experience with real-time systems or embedded developmentExposure to ROS, sensors, or hardware integration is a plusWhat We OfferCompetitive salary and bonus opportunitiesComprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), etc.)Flexible on-site schedule in Austin, TXEquityNOT AVAILABLE FOR C-C!!!
