Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.About the role We're looking for a Commercial Counsel, GTM to join our legal team at the forefront of shaping how cutting‑edge AI technology reaches users, researchers, and enterprises worldwide. You'll work alongside experienced colleagues who operate as true strategic partners—moving fast, thinking creatively, and working collaboratively to support deals that matter. In this role, you’ll focus heavily on supporting our Go‑to‑Market teams, handling enterprise agreements and customer negotiations while gaining exposure to a range of commercial work including research collaborations, product partnerships, and procurement. Additionally, you’ll have opportunities to work on cutting‑edge AI safety and research agreements, including threat‑sharing frameworks with leading security organizations and collaborations that shape and advance responsible AI development standards.This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney to develop deep expertise in commercial transactions while contributing directly to responsible AI development.ResponsibilitiesDraft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, with a primary focus on GTM/Sales transactions including enterprise customer contracts.Partner closely with Sales and Go‑to‑Market teams to support deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance.Help build and maintain our commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements.Potentially partner with Policy, Safeguards, and Research teams on novel AI governance initiatives.Identify and escalate legal risks appropriately while supporting business momentum.Stay current on legal developments affecting AI technologies.QualificationsA JD and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (California preferred).At least 3 years of legal experience, ideally with exposure to commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, or technology transactions.Clear communication skills and comfort translating legal concepts for non‑lawyer audiences.A low‑ego, collaborative approach to working with colleagues and external partners.Curiosity about AI technology, AI Policy, and commitment to responsible AI development.Experience navigating multi‑stakeholder agreements involving technical and policy considerations.Comfort in fast‑paced environments with shifting priorities.A “doer” attitude—willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in where needed.Role‑specific policy All staff must be able to work from our San Francisco or New York offices at least three days a week, with some flexibility for an interim period.Compensation The annual compensation range for this role is $205,000 – $265,000 USD (includes target earnings for sales roles, base salary, commissions, and equity).Logistics Education requirements : A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.Location‑based hybrid policy : Staff are expected to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time; some roles may require more in‑office presence.Visa sponsorship We sponsor visas for qualified candidates and will make every reasonable effort to obtain the necessary visa.Equal Employment Opportunity Anthropic provides equal employment opportunity and does not discriminate on the basis of protected class status under applicable law.#J-18808-Ljbffr
