Accounting Payable Clerk

POSITION DESCRIPTION The Accounts Receivable and Payable Clerk processes revenue, cash/banking information, and accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions, administers customer account collections, reconciles accounts receivable and payable control accounts, and generates payments to vendors and recipients. Duties and Responsibilities Key Accountabilities Process accounts receivable and revenue collection functions, including preparing, printing and posting invoices, follow up on outstanding invoices. Process accounts payable invoices and expense claims for payment by matching and verifying with purchase orders, requisitions, packing slips, vendor statements and receipts and enter data into Quick Books. Prepares open invoice summary for approval of weekly cash disbursements. Generates checks or ACH payment detail based on approved disbursement schedule. Performs transaction processing related to accounts receivable payments, revenue collection and bank deposits. Ensures accurate processing to general ledger accounts in compliance with appropriate policies and procedures with correct application of taxes. Liaise with other departments/customers/vendors. Makes recommendations for process improvements in accounts receivable and payables. Other duties as assigned. General support functions Assist in month end reporting procedures. Perform filing and general administrative tasks. Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent 1 - 3 years experience in clerical accounting Associate degree in business or accounting preferred. MS Office and knowledge of accounting software Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and procedures a plus but not required. Knowledge of QuickBooks preferred. Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older. Must be detail oriented. Must be able to perform basic standardized calculations. Must be able to write legibly. Must be able to comprehend simple instructions and apply common sense. Must be able to deal with problems. Must be able to multitask and work quickly. Must be a team player. Must have good communication skills. Must have adequate hand and eye coordination. Must meet physical requirements. Physical Requirements Must be able to work in an office environment.
