Sussex Montessori School CustodianSussex Montessori School is a K-6 public Elementary Montessori Charter School that resides on a beautiful rural farmland in Western Sussex County. The mission of Sussex Montessori School is to nurture the development of empathetic, collaborative, persistent and innovative global and community citizens in accordance with the time-tested philosophy of Maria Montessori, through authentic personalized learning experiences, respectful relationships, opportunities to innovate, and a focus on global citizenship. The school is located in Seaford, Delaware, which is a diverse rural area with a thriving Hispanic population as well as growing Haitian community. The School Custodian reports directly to Alan Carroll, Director of Facilities, and is responsible for daily upkeep and maintenance of the school and campus. Cleaning, grounds upkeep, maintenance, safety, ensuring yearly maintenance contracts are fulfilled, and assisting staff are all a part of this position to ensure the school and campus are well kept, and functioning properly. Location: Seaford, Delaware Duties: General maintenance duties include some electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC and painting. Trash removal, sweeping, mopping, accident clean-ups, windows, sanitizing bathrooms on an on-going basis. Mowing grass, trimming bushes, weeding, removing debris from playgrounds and parking lot, salting and power-washing sidewalks when needed, setting up traffic cones, and directing carline when needed. Assistance with pest-control, and/or other potential day-to-day issues Observing the campus for potential dangers (i.e. cracked sidewalks, broken furniture, locking and unlocking campus doors etc.) Assisting Staff Moving furniture, fixing broken furniture, assisting with deliveries Required Qualifications: High School Diploma and/or some college Minimum of 5 years' experience Ability to interact well with both children and adults Demonstrated understanding of diversity, educational equity, and multicultural education How to Apply: Please send resume to alan.carroll@sussexms.k12.de.us Notes: This is a 27.5-hour/week part time position, 12-month position.
