Group Lead

Full-Time Non-Exempt Role and Responsibilities The Production Lead is responsible for the general safe operation, adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and overall productivity of their assigned departments. This position requires the person be able to effectively lead and hold accountable a small team of technicians and/or packers, report on quarterly and daily goals, as well as rapidly address routine production issues and tasks to ensure machine up-time is maximized throughout the work centers and efficiencies are met while maintaining expected quality and safety standards. Comply with and follow SQP’s food safety and workplace safety policies. Comply with good manufacturing practices as required. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations. Ensure team maintains strict adherence to established processes. Check the most current production schedule per machine to ensure proper BOMs (including paper rolls already dropped behind each machine). Performs duties of workers supervised, as needed. Report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisors/QC. Completes tasks as directed with minimum supervision. Update production numbers on a board/on a computer system. Report safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. Ensure production equipment/personnel in assigned department is performing to standard expectations and maximizes up-time. Provide guidance to packerss/operators in assigned work areas with the goal of hitting production efficiencies while maintaining quality standards. Respectfully communicate with all co-workers. Be first point of contact for employee relations or questions. Provide employees with instruction on how to properly perform their task. Respectfully support and follow direction from all managers and supervisors regarding line/production flow performance. Work to continuously improve in all areas. Ensure all actions better the business of SQP and do not break any company policies. Relieve/assign workers in department for breaks/lunches. Ensure Proper handoff occurs within department to next shift. Qualifications This position provides guidance to employees by coordinating work and resolving problems. The production lead’s performance is evaluated by their leadership of the production employees, productivity of their designated team, quality/quantity of information reported each shift, and ability to control employee performance on the team. In addition to the above they: Demonstrate proficiency in performing job functions of Production packer and some duties of tech. Have machine operator experience in a repetitive manufacturing environment. Have some leadership experience and experience fostering team cooperation for a large group of employees. Have some mechanical aptitude: skills include, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines. Can navigate computer systems and type/data entry. Can climb ladders and/or stairs. Are able to stand for an 8 – 12-hour shift. Are able to lift up to 50 pounds throughout the day. Are able to work in a fast-paced, repetitive, and team-oriented environment. Can perform basic visual quality inspection of finished goods. Must be capable of cleaning with chemicals using protective gear. Can professionally communicate at all levels, specifically with supervisors and maintenance on any issues (including issuing work orders for maintenance requests).
