The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in designing, developing, and maintaining COBOL-based applications on mainframe systems. While experience in Medicaid or healthcare is desirable, it is not a strict requirement.ResponsibilitiesCOBOL Development: Design, code, test, and maintain COBOL programs for mainframe applicationsMainframe Systems: Work with mainframe systems and associated technologies to ensure optimal performance and reliabilityAnalysis and Troubleshooting: Analyze business requirements and system specifications to develop effective and efficient COBOL solutions. Identify and troubleshoot issues, providing timely resolutionsCollaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, systems analysts, and other developers, to ensure seamless integration of COBOL applications within the broader IT ecosystemDocumentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all COBOL programs, ensuring clarity and ease of understanding for other team membersTesting: Conduct thorough unit testing of developed code to ensure its functionality, reliability, and compliance with established standardsPerformance Optimization: Identify opportunities for performance optimization and implement necessary improvements to enhance the overall efficiency of COBOL applicationsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldOver 5 years of hands-on experience in COBOL development on mainframe systemsStrong knowledge of mainframe technologies and associated toolsExperience in working on large-scale projects with complex business logicFamiliarity with healthcare or Medicaid systems is a plusExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamDetail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality codeS2Tech is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
