Fowler Elementary School DistrictJob Title: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)Classification: CertifiedSalary: SLP Salary ScheduleDescription: The Speech Language Pathologist identifies students whose ability to function within the classroom and school setting is impeded by speech and language disorders in speech, language production, fluency, voice and resonance, language, social communication, cognitive communication, feeding, and swallowing. They are responsible for developing an individual therapy plan to provide direct or indirect services to identified students, enabling each child to achieve success in their educational experience.Qualifications:Master's Degree in Speech-Language PathologyArizona Speech-Language CertificationArizona Department of Education CertificateIVP Fingerprint Clearance CardExperience in speech and language therapy evaluation and treatment of childrenKnowledge of speech therapy evaluation and treatment of childrenKnowledge of child developmentAbility to comprehend and perform functions from written and verbal instructionsAbility to analyze and evaluate student progressKnowledge of technology applications and its use as an instructional toolProficient and fluent in the English languageKnowledge of Spanish, including reading, writing, and oral communication is preferredStrong communication skillsKnowledge of State and Federal guidelines regarding speech and language acquisition therapy and students with disabilitiesKnowledge of or willingness to become familiar with District policies, procedures, organizational structure, and school requirementsAlternatives to the above qualifications as the Governing Board or the Superintendent may deem appropriateEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist teachers in identifying and referring students with suspected speech and language disorders.Participate in the Student Interventions Team/Child Study team process.Screen, administer student assessment(s), and analyze and interpret data for parents and teachers.Train and supervise Speech Language Pathologist Assistants (SLPAs).Recommend appropriate treatment for students included in the speech/language program.Develop an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) to meet the specific needs of students who qualify for speech and language acquisition therapy services.Write and submit reports, including diagnosis, an intervention plan with specific objectives and goals, and recommendations for services to be provided to the student.Prepare and submit assessment reports on all students evaluated for speech therapy.Share the responsibility of reviewing records of incoming students and attending multidisciplinary conferences as required.Refer students with severe speech/language disorders to appropriate outside agencies In consultation with parents and the Student Services Director,Provide appropriate individualized service as prescribed in the IEP for each student requiring speech/language therapy.Provide strategies to support school staff's ability to assist students outside of therapy,Recommend appropriate materials and equipment to meet the needs of children receiving speech/language therapy services.Assist parents with training regarding continuing speech/language therapy strategies and routines for identified students in the home.Maintain appropriate student records, data, and documentation on services provided to students.Use data to monitor and evaluate each student's progress and adjust treatment and services when necessary.Prepare progress reports for parents and administrators as requiredCreate and maintain a current service log and a required documentation file for Medicaid in the Public School (MIPS) program.Maintain compliance with federal and state statutes and district policies and procedures.Maintain inventory of speech/language therapy equipment and supplies.Assist with developing new programs to meet students' needsSpeech/language therapy.Complete mid-year, end-of-year, and other reports requested by the student services director.Implement consistent communication with the school administrator, staff, school nurse, district student services director, and district psychologist.Participate in district-sponsored professional development workshops as directed, and maintain current developments in related fields.Maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate discretion when working with all district personnel and student and family records and/or information.Support and follow the rules, regulations, and policies set by the School Board, assigned schools, and the District.Perform all other duties as assigned by the District Administration, the student services director, or his/her designee.Length of Employment:9 MonthsReports to: Student Services Director
