Senior Software Engineer (Java, Scala, Python) – Data & Platform EngineeringLocation: Baskin Ridge, NJ OnsiteAbout the RoleWe are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our platform engineering team. You will design and maintain large-scale data pipelines, cloud-native microservices, and full-stack applications that power critical infrastructure. This role requires someone equally comfortable deep in distributed systems as they are building modern web applications with AI capabilities.What You'll DoDesign, develop, and maintain Apache Spark jobs and microservices in Scala and Python to process large-scale data (e.g., telecom network logs, event streams)Deploy and manage scalable microservices on Kubernetes, automating CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, ArgoCD, and HelmModernize and refactor legacy applications for compatibility with cloud-native platforms including Red Hat OpenShiftArchitect and build solutions leveraging AWS services: MSK, RDS, EKS, Lambda, CloudFront, API Gateway, ElastiCache, OpenSearchIdentify and resolve performance bottlenecks in queries and system design to deliver measurable infrastructure improvementsBuild Node.js, React, and Next.js applications that integrate LLMs and tool-calling capabilities with dynamic data visualizationsDevelop interactive geospatial visualizations using ArcGIS and H3 hexagonal indexing on Elasticsearch datasetsWhat We're Looking For5+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend systems and data infrastructureStrong proficiency in Scala and/or Python; comfortable with JavaScript/TypeScript for full-stack workHands-on experience with Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, and stream/batch processing architecturesSolid understanding of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and GitOps workflowsExperience working with AWS cloud services across compute, storage, messaging, and networkingFamiliarity with OpenShift or other enterprise Kubernetes distributionsExperience building or integrating LLM-powered applications and APIsKnowledge of geospatial tooling (ArcGIS, H3) is a strong plusStrong communication skills and ability to work across cross-functional teamsNice to HaveExperience in telecom or network data processing (4G/5G logs, signaling data)Familiarity with Elasticsearch/OpenSearch for search and analytics workloadsPrior work with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)Contributions to open-source projectsTech StackScala · Python · Node.js · React · Next.js · Apache Spark · Apache Kafka · Kubernetes · Helm · ArgoCD · Jenkins · AWS (MSK, EKS, RDS, Lambda, CloudFront, API Gateway, ElastiCache, OpenSearch) · Red Hat OpenShift · ArcGIS · H3 · Elasticsearch
