Editor II for National Public Radio, Inc. in Washington, DC to review and evaluate story pitches to determine the rightplatform for assignments; edit digital stories, host interviews, reported pieces, show copy and scripts, and other programcontent; track news alerts, headlines and trends, and recommends specific stories and coverage to show managers; workin conjunction with show managers, digital editors and desk editors to make assignments and provide editorial guidanceto Morning Edition staff; work with producers and editors to determine approach to stories and helps organizes andfocuses stories; assist in future planning, series planning and the development of projects; ensure that content meetsNPR program standards and practices; edit stories for continuity, integrity of journalism, quality of writing, manner ofpresentation, and consistency of style; provide feedback for story segments, interviews and other content; work withstaff in the field to file stories for digital, radio and other platforms; track sources using NPR's Dex system; shape editorialstandards for the show by participating in conversations and initiatives around diversity, inclusion and equity.Requires: Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Political Science, International Affairs, Arab Studies, Business Administrationor related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eight (8) years of journalism experience, includingnational journalism and editorial experience. Alternatively, a master's degree in Journalism, Political Science, InternationalAffairs, Arab Studies, Business Administration or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and three(3) years of journalism experience, including national journalism and editorial experience. Specific skills/otherrequirements - Working on a daily news show and/or platform; Editing and/or producing for a news broadcast or audioshow; Writing, producing and editing content for digital platforms; Editing breaking news copy, feature stories and guestinterviews; Digital Media and CMS (content management system). Must be able to work a variety of shifts, includingdaytime, overnight, late or swing shifts on a rotational basis (24/6 news operation).
