Participate in engineering, testing, startups, and service visits.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Phase:Develop the machine code in Siemens PLC system as well as Human Machine Interface (HMI) software so that equipment functions as specified.Test software modifications to the extent possible prior to delivery (shop test).Participate in or lead startup activities at customer site including:- Checkout of electrical, Siemens PLC and HMI portions. - Commissioning of equipment such that specifications are met.Deliver technical training to customers' operators and/or maintenance personnel as needed.Make return trips to the site to eliminate warranty issues or address customer needs.Experience Required5-7 years experience in PLC programming (SPECIFICALLY SIEMENS PRODUCTS)Product Life Cycle Phase:Deliver technical training to customers' operators and/or maintenance personnel as needed.Internal and External Interfaces:Interact with other internal engineering groups, vendors and suppliers, as needed.May interact with Procurement / Purchasing groups, Applications, or Product Managers.Authority:This position has no direct reports / managerial responsibilities.Acts under the direction of the department manager.Required SkillsStrong Siemens PLC and HMI programming skills.Understanding of electrical and process diagrams/schematics.Understanding of fluid systems and pneumatic systems including valving and transmitters.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.Competent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.Flexible and available to interact with team members as required.Self-directed and motivated.Ability to take initiative to identify and anticipate customer needs and make recommendations for implementation.Use of keyboards, telephones, copiers, and fax.Education RequirementsMinimum 5 years of Siemens PLC and HMI programming experience.Detailed knowledge and experience of industrial automation products and process control, preferably within the chemical industry.Work Environment / Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance, including long periods of standing during recruitment/job fairs.Movement through plant environments.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Visual acuity is required to read and produce accurate materials.This position will be hybrid for portions of time depending on what phase of the project implementation.BenefitsMedical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans401k Retirement FundAbout the ClientLeading research-intensive biopharmaceutical company committed to saving and improving lives.
