Position SummaryThe Legal Assistant assists and provides a range of legal support and administration to the company's General Counsel.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Performing legal and factual research; performing records researchReview and Summarize legal documents and reportsIdentifying relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes, and other pertinent material; reviewing and monitoring new and updated regulationsOrganizing and analyzing information; cross-checking and validating informationPreparing written reports and drafting legal documents including wills, contracts, and legal agreements and correspondenceChecking legal forms and documents for accuracyMaintaining reference filesInteracting with clientsPerforming other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Graduate of an accredited institution by the American Bar Association (ABA) with a Juris Doctor (J.D.); degree completed with a specialization in corporate law or any related field requiredEquivalent combination of education and/or experience consideredThorough knowledge of legal principles, legal research techniques, legal terminology, and government regulationsExcellent legal drafting, writing, and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills, analytical, and critical thinking skillsProficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookAbility to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, fax machine, printer, scanner, computerAbility to work with databases, including LexisNexis, and on-line technological platformsAbility to be detail-oriented, diligent, and flexibleAbility to handle conflicting time demands and focus on task completion with little direction or need for supervisory follow-upProficient command of the English language in both oral and written formatAbility to maintain confidentiality in a professional mannerPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
