Government Contract Speicalist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Government Contract Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of government contracts, from pre-award to post-award and closeout. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and company policies while maximizing value and minimizing risk. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of federal procurement processes and a proven track record of successfully administering government contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Award Activities:
Review solicitations, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to identify and assess requirements.
Prepare and submit comprehensive, compliant, and competitive proposals and bids.
Conduct market research and cost/price analysis to develop negotiation strategies.
Assist in negotiating contract terms, conditions, and pricing with government agencies.
Post-Award Administration:
Serve as the primary point of contact for Contracting Officers (CO) and Contracting Officer's Representatives (COR).
Administer contracts to ensure compliance with all terms, conditions, and regulations.
Monitor contractor performance, track deliverables, and ensure timely submission of reports.
Process contract modifications, extensions, and renewals.
Manage contract closeout procedures, including final payments and release of claims.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure strict adherence to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and other relevant government contracting laws and policies.
Identify, analyze, and mitigate potential risks associated with contractual agreements.
Maintain accurate and complete contract files and records.
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in federal government contract administration.
In-depth knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and its supplements.
Proven experience with the complete contract lifecycle, including proposal preparation, negotiation, administration, and closeout.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and contract language.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Experience with System for Award Management (SAM) is required.
Professional certification (e.g., CFCM, CPCM) is a plus.
