Job DescriptionThe Bookseller is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all customers in a friendly and helpful manner. They should be knowledgeable about books and other merchandise in the store, proactively seek to assist customers, and provide an outstanding shopping experience.Roles and ResponsibilitiesProvides customers with the highest level of customer service by greeting each customer, communicating and assisting customers with questions and orders, and efficient cashiering.Sales of all products and promotion of point of sale initiatives including Membership programs, Magazine for Millionaires program, Educator programs, and other company-sponsored programs.Balances cash drawer following each register shift within allowable variances as identified in the Loss Prevention Policy.Delivers and places product on the sales floor in accordance with merchandising guidelines and timelines.Recovers the sales floor during each shift, including, but not limited to picking up items, shelving books and product, straightening bookshelves and tables, and store housekeeping tasks as required.Protects company assets by adhering to all loss prevention standards and acting with integrity in all transactions.Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to assisting in other departments, receiving shipments, small fixture assembly and maintenance, assisting with inventory, and restroom cleanliness.Core Competencies* Interpersonal Skills* Self-ManagementQualifications and Education Requirements* 16 years of age or older* Successful completion of all required background screeningsPreferred SkillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to multi-taskPrevious retail sales experienceComputer and cash register skillsPhysical and Environmental RequirementsMust be able to stand and walk for extended periods of timeMust be able to use hands/arms to operate a keyboard and telephone for repetitive motion activitiesMust be able to lift or team lift objects up to 50 lbs., with or without assistanceMust be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without an assistive deviceMust be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, or crouch while performing daily activities of the job
