We are currently seeking a Technology Construction Administrator in our Chicago, IL office. As a Technology Construction Administrator, you will be responsible for performing site observations during construction and to provide information as requested to contractors. This position will be expected to keep the engineer informed of project status and aware of potential problems or liability issues. In addition, the Construction Administrator will observe work through meetings and site visits to determine if progress and quality of workmanship are in accordance with the contract documents. This position will be a supporting role to our engineering teams that focus on various types of vertical building design.Principal ResponsibilitiesReview project, scope of work, and budget for contracted servicesMeet with the Operations Manager, Project Managers and design engineers to review expectations and role to be fulfilled by Construction Administrator on project assignedResponsible for preparing a work schedule and time projections assigned; as well as coordinating the schedule and work with Construction Supervisor and the design engineersReview contract documents with contractors, clarify and interpret contract documents and obtain information from design engineers as required. Issue reports regarding deficiencies in the projectCollect data and review change orders with the design engineer and prepare project close out documents when neededConfer with Architect concerning areas of construction coordination issues between architectural and engineering design. Coordinate with design engineer, record and document events and circumstancesReview applications for payment submitted by the Contractor and forward to Project Manager with recommendation for dispositionPrepare project closeout documentsAssist Client with final observation of the work and receive necessary documentation from Contractor at the completion of the workAttend construction progress meetings as required in the service contract and report proceedingsRequired Skills/AbilitiesMust be familiar with design processes and interpretation of architectural and engineering design documentsKnowledge of design and construction techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans and drawingsKnowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and structuresField experience or skilled trades a plusStrong interpersonal skillsProficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to travel 20-50% with occasional overnight staysThis position is not eligible for sponsorshipEducation and ExperienceBachelor's Degree (Science) or Associate Degree preferred in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent6 years of experience minimum required, 10 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industryORAssociates degree, or certificate, in Construction Management or Engineering preferred10 years of experience minimum required, 14 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industryPhysical RequirementsRegularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 poundsOccasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pullWill have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noisesAbility to climb ladders and safely maneuver around construction sitesLocationsChicago, ILAustin, TXSalary Range $101,000- $123,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
