*Business Development Professional – Federal Contracting *
(Mid‑Level, 4–6 Years Experience | Small‑to‑Mid‑Sized Business)
Status: Full Time/Part Time - Hybrid to Remote later this year
The *Business Development professional* supports and advances the organization’s federal growth strategy by identifying qualified opportunities, shaping capture activities, coordinating with teaming partners, and maintaining a strategic pipeline. This role is designed for candidates with 4–6 years of experience working within small‑to‑mid‑sized federal contractors, where flexibility, initiative, and the ability to wear multiple hats are critical.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Leverage federal procurement platforms—including GovWin, Higher Gov, and SAM.gov—to identify, qualify, and track near‑term, mid‑term, and long‑term opportunities aligned with organizational capabilities.
* Attend industry days, conferences, and networking events to gather actionable market intelligence, support early capture efforts, and strengthen agency and industry relationships.
* Manage a comprehensive opportunity pipeline, ensuring timely tracking of updates, milestones, qualification notes, deadlines, and alignment with strategic priorities.
* Engage current and prospective teaming partners to support capture strategy, evaluate partnership fits, and coordinate discussions on capabilities, roles, and past performance.
* Develop high‑quality responses to Sources Sought notices, Requests for Information (RFIs), and other market research requests issued by federal agencies.
* Lead and facilitate recurring business development team meetings, develop agendas, organizing inputs, and ensuring clear communication of action items, decisions, and timelines.
* Brief senior leadership on pipeline activity, opportunity risks, competitive intelligence, upcoming milestones, and informed recommendations on go/no‑go decisions.
* Collaborate closely with proposal teams, technical SMEs, and operations to support capture readiness and ensure smooth transitions from opportunity identification to proposal development.
*Required Skills*
* Strong understanding of federal contracting processes, including market research, pre‑solicitation phases, procurement cycles, and foundational FAR concepts.
* Demonstrated experience supporting BD and capture activities within small‑to‑mid‑sized federal contractors, with comfort operating in lean, agile environments.
* Ability to independently analyze procurement opportunities, interpret solicitation language, and map requirements to company capabilities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience drafting RFIs, Sources Sought responses, capability statements, and teaming communications.
* Highly organized with strong time‑management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with limited oversight.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
* Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build productive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external teaming partners.
* Detail‑oriented with the ability to drive tasks to completion and maintain consistent follow‑through.
*Preferred Background*
* 4–6 years of experience in business development, capture support, proposal coordination, or federal contracting.
* Experience working in small‑to‑mid‑size federal contractors, where cross‑functional coordination and direct engagement with leadership are common.
* Hands‑on experience using GovWin, SAM.gov, FPDS, Higher Gov, or similar federal procurement research tools.
* Prior involvement in teaming discussions, capability assessments, qualification activities, or early capture strategy development.
* Experience attending federal industry days, networking sessions, agency briefings, or technical outreach events.
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
