Data Center Technician
About the roleAs a Data Center Technician supporting our Ashburn-area operations, you will be the boots-on-the-ground presence ensuring our physical infrastructure stays healthy, up-to-date, and running smoothly. This is a part-time, primarily remote role, with regular on-site presence in the Ashburn, VA area when hands-on work is needed.Beyond routine maintenance, we'd love for you to bring scripting and automation skills to the table. If you can help automate firmware updates, standardize configuration management, and reduce the manual toil that comes with managing hardware at scale, you'll fit right in.You will:Day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of data center hardware and infrastructurePhysical hardware troubleshooting, replacement, and upkeep during on-site visitsFirmware updates and patch management across servers and network equipmentScripting and automation to streamline repetitive operational tasksConfiguration management of hardware and network devicesMaintaining accurate records of equipment status, changes, and proceduresContributing to operational improvements and standardization effortsAbout youMust-haves:Proven experience working in a colocation or carrier-neutral data center environmentExperience working with 3rd party support personnel from vendorsStrong hands-on skills with physical server and networking hardwareStructured and detail-oriented approach to documentation and asset managementComfortable working independently and managing your own scheduleLocated in or able to commute to the Ashburn, VA / Washington, DC area for on-site workFluent in written and spoken EnglishAbility to travel to Europe, Canada and South America to perform on-site maintenance and participate in work with our Europe-based team.Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.SNice-to-haves:Experience scripting in Python or a similar language for operational automationFamiliarity with firmware management tools and configuration management frameworks like Ansible, Puppet, or similarExperience with IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, or similar out-of-band management interfacesFamiliarity with Linux-based environmentsSite Reliability Engineering or similar experienceAs with all roles on our team, the ability to work independently, document your work clearly, and flag issues proactively is just as important as technical skill.About usOur platform provides customers with an immutable, historical archive of their data in systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, Entra ID, Dynamics 365, and Zendesk.We protect our customers against everything, ranging from ransomware to simple accidents.The majority of our back-end components are written in clean, modern C++ using mainly purpose-built components.
