QUALIFICATIONS:Hold current Indiana State license as a Registered Nurse.Current certification in CPRExcellent communication skillsKnowledge of current practices for common childhood illnesses and chronic diseases: asthma management, diabetes, insulin pen and pumps, seizure managementAbility to perform skilled nursing care such as catheterization, suctioning, gastrostomy tube feedings, insulin administration, insulin pump skills and nebulizer treatmentsComputer skillsMust be able to pass criminal background and DCS check DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Degree in nursing or related fieldExperience in pediatric and/or community or public health nursingPrior experience in school nursing, or acute care setting REPOTS TO: Building PrincipalPRIMARY ROLE: To provide primary health and emergency care to students, promote wellness and serve as a resource for health concerns in the school setting. RESPONSIBILITIES:Administers medications and treatments as ordered.Provides care for student and staff illness and accidents.Administers care based on individual health care plans and individual emergency care plans.Serves as liaison between the home and the school regarding student health concerns.Documents all encounters.Follows communicable disease control procedures and informs administration and/or parents regarding school exclusion and readmission.
