San Xavier Mission ParishJob DescriptionJob Title: Custodian Status: Full TimeExemption Status: Non-Exempt Salary Grade:Department/Location: San Xavier Mission Parish / Tucson, AZPrimary Function: Under the direction of the Pastor, School Principal or other assigned manager is responsible for performing janitorial services and light maintenance in a parish, school, or other facility. The Employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, "...Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received." (Eph. 4:1)Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Support the Church's spiritual and pastoral mission.Shall abide by Catholic principles in the employee's professional and private life and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures.Develop a cleaning schedule to ensure the Church or school is clean and maintained in an orderly fashion.Perform general custodial duties to include cleaning and light maintenance of the parish or school facilities.Assist grounds person on an "as needed" basis.Perform scheduled monthly, semi-annual, or annual janitorial duties, i.e., floor waxing, painting, window washing, carpet cleaning, etc. as directed and in accordance with the parish maintenance schedule.Provide set-up and cleaning of facilities for all activities as directed.Maintain a supply of cleaning supplies and equipment; properly account for materials and equipment.Maintain the security of buildings, equipment, and toolsComply with safety regulations as required; maintain a safe working environment.Perform other duties as assigned. Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity; normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal maintenance environment. Required Activities: Walking: sitting; standing; stooping; reaching; talking; handling; hearing; carrying; and climbing ladders.Basic Qualifications:Must have a working knowledge of and a strong commitment to the mission of the Diocese and Catholic Church; must be in full communion with the Catholic ChurchExcellent communications skills, verbal and written; excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, parishioners, and the publicMust be a self-starter; well organized; perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work with a sense of urgency.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must; ability to travel locally as required; weekend and overtime work may be required.Working familiarity with computer technologyAbility to successfully pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check.Possess a valid Arizona driver's license.Be able to read directions and label safety warnings. Must be safety conscious.Knowledge, skills and experience in handling janitorial equipment and maintenance toolsProfessional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent education1 years' experience in a commercial or private maintenance, janitorial or similar position Other/Preferred Skills Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.Covenants of Employment:
