Engineer

The Center for Mobility and Rehabilitation Engineering Research (CMRER) is seeking an entry-level Research Engineer to participate in the design, development, and evaluation of devices and interventions using robotics and virtual reality to improve mobility for people with brain injury and older adults, working as part of a scientific research team in translational research.Responsibilities include• Design, develop, and execute protocols in support of ongoing research activities.• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware and software used in intervention delivery and data collection. • Acquire, process, and analyze biomechanical (motion capture, force data etc.), neurophysiological(EMG, fNIRS, EEG, etc.) and related research data.• Develop computational scripts in MATLAB, C++, and Python for the analysis and interpretation of kinematic, kinetic, neurophysiological, and other experimental outcomes.• Support the design and development of devices using Pro/ENGINEER (Pro-E).• Maintain laboratory equipment, computer software, and inventory of laboratory supplies.• Provide technical assistance and collaborative support to engineers and research personnel.• Prepare, organize, and revise testing procedures, training manuals, and related study documentation.• Assist in developing and maintaining data-management systems to facilitate secure storage, efficient retrieval, and analysis of research data.Qualifications• Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree in biomedical engineering or a related field.• Strong programming skills in MATLAB, and Python.• Proficient in signal processing (filtering, time and frequency domain analyses, feature extraction) and machine learning.• Strong skills with PTC Creo (Pro E).• Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills, including statistical analysis and data management.• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders through strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.Preferred qualifications• Experience with motion-capture data-collection routines (calibration, data processing, etc.).• Experience in assisting with preparation of scientific manuscripts.• Programming skills in C/C++ and/or LabVIEW.• Familiarity with basic electronic circuit design and electromechanical development.• Excellent organizational skills.• Proficiency with GitHub.• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in human subjects research.
