Position OverviewAscend Engineering is a small, fast-paced manufacturing job shop seeking a hands-on Engineering Intern to support daily operations. This role is ideal for someone who wants real-world experience in machining, machine setup, and drafting. The intern will work closely with our team to help keep production running efficiently while learning multiple aspects of the business.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with operating machining equipment (CNC and/or manual machines) Help set up machines for production runs, including tooling and material prep Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job specifications Create and update basic technical drawings using CAD software Support general shop operations, including organizing materials and maintaining a clean workspace Perform basic quality checks on parts to ensure accuracy and consistency Work with team members to improve processes and efficiency QualificationsCurrently pursuing a degree or certification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field Basic understanding of machining processes and/or manufacturing environments Familiarity with CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (preferred but willing to train) Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn Good work ethic and ability to take direction Skills & AttributesHands-on, problem-solving mindset Reliable and punctual Team-oriented with a positive attitude Comfortable working in a shop environment What You’ll GainReal-world experience in a working job shop Exposure to machining, setups, and production workflows Hands-on CAD and blueprint experience Opportunity to learn directly from experienced machinists and owners Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to [XX] lbs Comfortable working around machinery (with proper safety training)
