Sr. Risk Manager - Incentive CompensationCapital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Senior Manager to join the IncentiveRisk Management Team within the Enterprise Risk Management organization. In thisrole, you will leverage your strong communication skills, incentive risk andcompensation expertise, incentive plan design knowledge, and risk mitigationexperience to support and enhance Capital One's incentive governance processes.The team's mission is to ensure Capital One's incentive compensation programsappropriately balance performance and risk by providing independent oversight,monitoring, and effective challenge. The team's scope includes oversight of incentiverisk management across Capital One, including:- Conducting risk assessments and backtesting incentive plans- Identifying the Covered Associate population- Designing and monitoring risk performance goals (including backtesting)- Delivering reporting and insights on incentive risk matters to Senior Managementand the Board of DirectorsThe Senior Risk Manager will be responsible for managing the oversight of incentive-related risks across all of Capital One's incentive compensation programs, andsupporting compliance with the Interagency Guidance on Sound IncentiveCompensation Policies. This role will be accountable for identifying and assessingpotential risks embedded within the design and structure of incentive plans, includinginternational plans, and partnering closely with the first line of defense and HumanResources to ensure appropriate risk mitigation strategies and controls areimplemented. The Senior Risk Manager will provide independent review and effectivechallenge throughout the incentive plan lifecycle, ensuring alignment with thecompany's risk appetite, governance standards, and regulatory expectations.As part of the larger Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) organization, you will workwith talented associates across first and second lines of defense to support accurateidentification of Covered Associates and the effective implementation of riskperformance goals aligned with the company's strategic objectives and risk appetite. Inthis role, you will provide risk advisory and effective challenge to first line risk-takingdecisions and activities related to incentive compensation.The Senior Manager will operate with broad exposure across lines of businesses andengage regularly with senior leaders to develop and implement innovative andstreamlined approaches to identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks. You willalso bring a unique perspective and intellectual curiosity to help foster a culture that isrigorous, thoughtful and creative within an open, collaborative environment where newideas and solutions are both encouraged and valued.Specific responsibilities of the Senior Risk Manager include and are not limited to:● Support Capital One's compliance with the Interagency Guidance on SoundIncentive Compensation Policies.● Maintain oversight of incentive-related risks across all incentive compensationprograms, ensuring alignment with governance standards, risk appetite, andregulatory expectations.● Provide independent risk advisory and challenge of incentive compensationplans throughout the plan lifecycle.● Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify emerging risks, trends, andpotential areas of exposure, including within the design and structure ofinternational incentive plans.● Partner with the first line of defense and Human Resources to develop andimplement mitigation plans, ensuring that identified risks are appropriatelyaddressed and controls are effective.● Support ongoing monitoring and validation of mitigation efforts to confirm thatbusiness actions address areas of exposure and maintain compliance withgovernance and regulatory requirements.● Support accurate identification of Covered Associates and the effectiveimplementation of risk performance goals.● Oversee the maintenance of team-owned policies, standards, and othergoverning documents● Support audits, exams, and assessments impacting Incentive Risk Management● Stay current on the changing industry landscape and regulatory environmentrelated to incentive risk, and understand the impacts to Capital One.Basic Qualifications:● High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification● At least 5 years of experience in incentive risk management within the financialservices industry● At least 5 years of experience in incentive compensation or executivecompensation design, governance, and risk assessmentPreferred Qualifications:● Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, or Military Experience● Experience with regulatory guidance related to incentive compensation (i.e.,Interagency Guidance on Sound Incentive Compensation Policies), includinginternational compensation guidelines● Experience partnering with senior executives and influencing decision-making● Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting tosenior leadership● Demonstrated experience collaborating across teams, problem solving, andstreamlining complex processes, with strong attention to detailAt this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorizationfor this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.McLean, VA: $177,700 - $202,800 for Sr. Risk ManagerRichmond, VA: $161,500 - $184,300 for Sr. Risk ManagerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
