Position SummaryMatcon Construction Services is seeking a results-driven Project Manager to lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for financial performance, schedule execution, subcontractor management, and client satisfaction.The Project Manager serves as the operational leader of the project and is accountable for delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Matcon’s quality standards.This role requires strong leadership, financial discipline, and the ability to drive accountability across internal teams and subcontractors.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & ExecutionLead projects from contract execution through final closeoutDevelop and manage project schedules in coordination with SuperintendentsConduct and lead OAC meetingsMaintain proactive communication with owners, architects, and stakeholdersEnsure alignment between field operations and office coordinationIdentify risks early and implement mitigation strategiesFinancial Management & AccountabilityDevelop and manage project budgetsTrack cost performance and forecast monthlyManage change orders, pricing, and negotiationsReview and approve subcontractor pay applicationsMaintain margin accountability and cost controlProvide accurate monthly financial reportingSubcontractor & Vendor ManagementOversee subcontractor buyout processNegotiate scopes and contractsEnsure subcontractor compliance and performanceResolve conflicts and performance issues proactivelyPreconstruction & PlanningParticipate in preconstruction planning and value engineeringReview plans and specifications for constructabilitySupport estimating team during handoff and project startupDevelop procurement schedules and long-lead item trackingQuality, Safety & CloseoutEnsure project compliance with safety standardsOversee punch list management and closeout documentationDeliver complete and organized turnover packagesMaintain high standards of workmanship and project presentationQualifications5+ years of commercial construction experienceExperience managing ground-up and/or significant renovation projectsStrong understanding of construction contracts and project financialsAbility to read and interpret drawings and specificationsProficiency in project management software (Procore preferred)Strong communication and leadership skillsDesired TraitsOwnership mentality — treats each project like a business unitFinancially disciplined and margin-awareCalm under pressure and solution-orientedStrong negotiatorDecisive and accountableHigh standards for quality and performanceTeam leader who elevates PEs and supports field leadershipWhat Success Looks Like at MatconProjects are delivered on time and within budgetMargins are protected and forecasted accuratelyClients trust and request repeat workField and office teams operate in alignmentProblems are solved early, not reacted to lateIDEAL PROJECT MANAGER PROFILEThe ideal Project Manager at Matcon is a business leader disguised as a builder.
