We focus on recruiting talented, self-motivated employees that strive to find a way to get things done.Position OverviewAltamira is seeking a Java Service Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services that support data processing, messaging, and application integration within secure, mission-critical environments.This role focuses on building high-performance Java-based services using modern frameworks and integrating with distributed data and streaming platforms.The ideal candidate brings strong Java development experience and practical knowledge of enterprise service architectures in highly regulated settings.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring BootBuild and manage projects using Maven-based build systemsDevelop data services utilizing ArangoDBImplement event-driven architectures using KafkaDesign and maintain GraphQL APIs and service interfacesBuild and optimize RESTful and service-based integrationsImplement best practices for scalability, performance, and reliabilityCollaborate with platform, data, and infrastructure teamsSupport CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworksTroubleshoot service, messaging, and database issuesParticipate in system accreditation, compliance, and audit activitiesDocument service architectures and operational proceduresRequired QualificationsTS/SCIBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Entry level to 10+ years of experience in software development rolesStrong proficiency in JavaExperience developing applications using Spring BootExperience using Maven for build and dependency managementHands-on experience with ArangoDB or similar NoSQL databasesExperience working with Kafka or distributed messaging platformsExperience developing GraphQL APIsFamiliarity with microservices and distributed systems architecturesExperience using Git-based version control systemsAbility to operate in secure, compliance-driven environmentsPreferred QualificationsExperience designing and operating event-driven architecturesFamiliarity with containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes)Experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programsExperience with service monitoring and observability toolsFamiliarity with cloud-based or hybrid deploymentsExperience with performance tuning and JVM optimizationExperience working in high-availability environmentsExperience with schema design and API governance
