With operations across the U.S. and globally, we are committed to safety, innovation, and quality while building products our customers depend on every day.SummaryBrake press operators operate cutoff saws, shears, and brake press.Duties And ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily: Operates the brakepress Reads a job specification to determine machine adjustments and material requirements Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template Positions work piece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies, or work pieces Sets up and performs maintenance on fab and machine shop machines and performs burning work Self-check work and inspect prior processes Meet production goals Maintain a clean and safe work area Initiate process improvements when able Work in close proximity to customer, as needed Operate any equipment or tools needed to perform the job Assist other team members and departments as needed Other duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent experienceAbility to use basic hand and power toolsAbility to read and use a tape measure to precise measurementsAbility to work in a team environmentAbility to maintain attendance within company guidelinesAbility to retain and apply instructionsPositive attitudeWork overtime on short noticeEmbrace changeBasic computer skillsBasic math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisionMust be detailed orientatedAbility to read and understand truck specification documentsAbility to communicate and understand in EnglishAbility to work within safety guidelinesMust be self-motivatedMust be able to work with little to no supervision after two weeksPhysical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time and to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The associate frequently is required to talk or hear. The associate is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crawl over, under and around equipment. May be exposed to vibration.The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds frequently, move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentGeneral production environment. The noise level ranges from moderate to loud occasionally.
