Pay: $17-19 per hour Position Type: Full-Time Schedule: 3:00pm - 11:00pm Tuesday - Thursday: San Diego, CA Friday - Saturday: National City, CA Job Description: Star Pro Security Patrol, Inc. is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Unarmed Security Guards at a homeless shelter in National City, CA and San Diego, CA. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and security of the shelter’s residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will be vigilant, approachable, and committed to maintaining a safe environment. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and Patrol Premises: Conduct regular patrols of the shelter’s interior and exterior to ensure the safety and security of all occupants. Access Control: Manage and monitor entry and exit points to ensure that only authorized individuals are allowed access to the shelter. Incident Response: Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, or any security-related incidents, and take appropriate action as per shelter policies. Report Writing: Document and report all incidents, observations, and activities during the shift in a clear and concise manner. Safety Checks: Conduct routine checks to ensure that all safety equipment is functioning correctly and that the shelter is free from hazards. Conflict Resolution: De-escalate conflicts and manage situations involving shelter residents and visitors in a calm and professional manner. Collaboration: Work closely with shelter staff and local law enforcement when necessary to address security concerns and incidents. Customer Service: Provide assistance and support to residents, staff, and visitors with a focus on maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED: Required. Security Guard License: Must possess a valid California Guard Card. Experience: Prior experience in security, especially in a social services setting, is preferred. Skills: Excellent observation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations. Background Check: Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform routine physical activities as required by the job. Working Conditions: Environment: Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, potentially in various weather conditions.
