Full-Time Educational ASL Interpreter — Arlington, VAJob Type: Full-timeThe OpportunityContextGlobal is seeking a full-time ASL staff interpreter to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing school staff members in the Arlington, VA area. We are supporting local school districts by providing ASL interpreting support for DHOH staff in the K-12 setting. A successful candidate for the full-time or independent contractor position will be assigned to a school for the duration of a school year or as needed and provide 1:1 support to staff members who use ASL as their primary mode of communication.About The RoleThe successful candidate will be assigned to a school for the duration of the school year (or as needed) and will provide ASL interpreting support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing staff who use ASL as their primary mode of communication. This is a full-time staff position; qualified independent contractors may also be considered.Required Qualifications Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (graduates of accredited programs preferred) At least two years of documented experience as an ASL interpreter Proficient signing and voicing skills Strong knowledge of educational vocabulary, ASL, and Deaf culturePreferred Qualifications EIPA 3.5+ OR RID Certification (NIC, CI/CT, or equivalent) NIC Written Prior K-12 educational interpreting experienceCore Competencies Ethical decision-making Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to interact effectively with students, school staff, families, and management from a variety of backgrounds Adherence to the RID Code of Professional ConductRequired Pre-Employment ScreeningsBecause this position is in a public school setting, the successful candidate will be required to complete: TB screening Criminal background check and fingerprinting Drug testAll interviews and screenings will be conducted in ASL and spoken English.Benefits and Perks Medical insurance Dental insurance Annual professional development budget 401(k)About ContextGlobalContextGlobal, Inc. is a language service provider delivering top-tier translation, interpreting, and consulting services to a select clientele in the Washington Metropolitan area.
