S/he is responsible in assisting the provider and the team in the overall coordination, preparation, examination and treatment of the patient. S/he will perform the minimum competency requirement for a medical assistant.Essential Duties:Reviews patient records prior to the visitReminds patient of appointments as necessaryIdentifies if all previous orders were completedEnsures that all necessary reports are in placeReviews gaps in care as necessaryPerforms check in duties appropriately and timelyRecords vital signs and other measurements accuratelyUpdates all information related to meaningful use and PCHCH requirementsCarries out necessary check in clinical procedures appropriately per protocolsPerforms check out duties appropriately and timelyCarries out clinical procedures and order as directed by the provider efficiently and accuratelyAdministers medication as ordered by the providerAssists in simple wound dressing as necessaryRefers patients as necessaryComplete laboratory orders accuratelyPerforms administrative dutiesPrepares patient exam roomInventories suppliesCompletes necessary formsFollows up on no-shows and schedule as necessarySterilizes, labels and packs instruments as necessaryRetrieves and returns calls from patients, staff and other agencies in the communityCalls patients for laboratory and/or other reportsSchedules appointments as necessaryOperates basic medical equipmentDocuments consistently and appropriately in EMRCommunicates with the provider and other members of the team to enhance patient careRegular and reliable on-site attendance is requiredOther Duties:Performs other related duties as assignedAttends and participates in PCMH huddles, in-services education programs and meetings as requiredDemonstrates excellent customer services to patients and/or providers and promotes positive image of KPHCProvides feedback for quality improvement activitiesArrives to work promptlyInform supervisor when late or absent is imminentAnswers phones within reasonable amount of time and take accurate messagesBe open to feedback during evaluations and other timesDemonstrate willingness to improve job performance as necessaryMaintains and improves personal competenceObserves safety and security procedures; determine appropriate actions beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properlyMinimum Qualification Requirements:Skills/Knowledge: Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.Education: High School Diploma/GED required Medical Assistant Certification required One-year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Current BCLS/CPRExperience: Previous experience with basic computer systems required Knowledge of basic medical terminology required.
