This role focuses on delivering evidence-based nephrology care in a collaborative, fast-paced hospital environment.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical CarePerform inpatient nephrology consultations and follow-up evaluationsManage:Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) exacerbationsElectrolyte and acid-base disordersHypertensionOversee inpatient dialysis modalities:Hemodialysis (HD)Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)Peritoneal Dialysis (PD)Document consults, progress notes, and treatment plans in the EHRCare Coordination & CommunicationRespond to consults from hospitalists, ICU, ED, and surgical teamsCollaborate daily with multidisciplinary teamsEnsure smooth transitions of care with outpatient nephrology providersPartner with case management on discharge planning and dialysis placementQuality & OperationsMaintain accurate, timely documentationEnsure compliance with CMS, hospital policies, and dialysis regulationsParticipate in quality initiatives (AKI management, dialysis safety, readmission reduction)Support accurate coding and billing practicesTeam & EducationParticipate in inpatient service coverageProvide education to residents, fellows, and nursing staffFoster a collaborative, patient-centered care environmentQualificationsRequiredLicensed Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C)Experience in acute care, hospital medicine, or inpatient settingsStrong clinical, communication, and consultative skillsAbility to thrive in high-acuity, fast-paced environmentsPreferredExperience with HD, CRRT, and PDPrior nephrology or ICU experienceFamiliarity with EHR systems and dialysis workflowsWhy Join UMMS?Academic-affiliated health system with strong teaching environmentCollaborative, multidisciplinary care modelOpportunities for professional growth and specializationAccess to cutting-edge clinical practices and researchAdditional InformationUMMS will never request banking or personal financial information via email or text during the recruitment process.
