Senior Java and Python EngineerThis is a remote position. We are looking for a senior Java and Python engineer to join an enablement-focused engagement aimed at raising engineering quality, delivery maturity, and development effectiveness across existing teams. This is not a feature development role. The focus is on coaching, standards, governance, and sustainable improvement of engineering practices.Responsibilities:Establish quality gates based on a consistent pull request workflowDefine and enforce standards for code reviews, branching strategy, definition of done, and automated checksIntroduce and operationalise BDD as a core testing and collaboration practiceDrive adoption of Gherkin scenarios and living documentation across Product, QA, and DevelopmentLead coaching and enablement activities such as workshops, reviews, playbooks, and guidelinesCreate governance artefacts including templates, checklists, dashboards, and quality metricsSupport change management through office hours, feedback loops, and regular progress reportingEnsure sustainable adoption of standards rather than one-off improvementsRequirements:Senior-level background in software engineering, technical leadership, or engineering excellence rolesStrong hands-on experience with Java and modern quality engineering practicesProven success in upskilling teams and establishing PR-based quality gatesPractical experience with pull request workflows in GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOpsStrong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, static analysis, automated testing, and code quality toolingDemonstrated experience implementing BDD practices and coaching teams in their adoptionExcellent communication and facilitation skillsNice to have Python experience in addition to JavaGerman language skills (reading and writing level)Experience working in large-scale or regulated environmentsKnowledge of DORA metrics and engineering productivity frameworksFamiliarity with Vaadin or IntegrisBenefits:Solid, competitive salaryWork in multinational environment on international projectsComprehensive healthcareLong-term B2B contract with stable project pipelineFully remote model
