Water Treatment Field Service Engineer
Your day in this roleMorning finds you on the road to an industrial or municipal site in Nebraska. You arrive, review the service ticket, and get to work—installing or upgrading water treatment equipment, verifying wiring, configuring PLC parameters, and testing performance. In the afternoon, you walk the customer through best practices, document the work performed, and reconcile spare parts before heading to your next stop. With frequent overnight travel, you’ll be the trusted face of Polytec—solving problems, preventing downtime, and keeping systems compliant.Key responsibilitiesInstall, commission, and upgrade equipment across multiple field locationsConfigure hardware and software after installation, including PLC-related settingsPerform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on technology and mechanical systemsTest, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues to restore optimal performanceCreate thorough service reports and documentation of installations and repairsMaintain, calibrate, and account for tools, test gear, and service equipmentTrain customers on safe and efficient operation of installed systemsManage inventory of spare parts and replacement componentsWhat you’ll bring5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience with a strong mechanical/electrical foundationCustomer-first mindset with clear, professional communication skillsService-driven approach and responsiveness to client needsWillingness and ability to travel overnight more than 75% of the time within your territoryResidency in Nebraska is requiredProficiency in: electrical troubleshooting and repair; welding setup for production work; broad maintenance and repair capabilities; readiness for field serviceComfort working with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)Working conditionsOperate within chemical manufacturing environments handling alkaline mineral slurries, with limited interaction with other Hazmat and non-Hazmat materialsCapable of tasks in 100+ °F ambient temperatures while wearing appropriate PPERegular climbing of stairs and ladders and lifting within OSHA guidelinesExposure to outdoor conditions where heat or cold is routineStrict adherence to plant safety programs: Confined Space, Working at Heights, Management of Change, Hot Work, and operating proceduresAbout PolytecPolytec, Inc., a subsidiary of Chemtrade, has served the water treatment sector for over three decades.
