This position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex embedded and Linux-based systems that support critical technology initiatives.Our client is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer with experience in Unix/Linux kernel development, real-time operating systems, and cloud-native technologies. This role supports the development of reliable and secure systems used in regulated environments, including aerospace, defense, and advanced technology applications.This position involves working in complex technical environments where system performance, security, and reliability are important.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain Unix/Linux kernel and embedded systems softwareWork with real-time operating systems (RTOS) to support predictable system behaviorDevelop and maintain system-level applications using C/C+Support the integration of Kubernetes-based platforms in edge or distributed environmentsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to help define system architecture and performance requirementsIdentify, troubleshoot, and resolve system-level issues across hardware and software componentsContribute to system performance, scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainabilitySupport security and compliance requirements appropriate to regulated environmentsRequired QualificationsExperience with Unix/Linux kernel developmentExperience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS)Proficiency in C programming for system-level developmentExperience with Kubernetes or other cloud-native platformsUnderstanding of operating system internals and low-level system designExperience developing, supporting, or maintaining embedded or edge computing environmentsThe base range for this contract position is $60.00- $120.00 per hour, depending on experience. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all U.S. locations.
