With expertise across industries, we combine engineering know-how with hands-on experience to create systems that solve complex challenges and keep businesses running smoothly.The Director of Fleet will partner closely with Service, Operations, and Leadership teams to optimize asset utilization, minimize downtime, and enhance the overall efficiency of technician support and customer delivery. This position plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, vendor partnerships, and scalable growth across a multi-location service environment.What You’ll Do:Strategic Leadership & PlanningDevelop and execute a comprehensive strategy for material handling equipment aligned with company growth and customer demandsDefine asset lifecycle strategies including specification, acquisition, utilization, maintenance, and replacementEstablish KPIs to track fleet and equipment performance, uptime, utilization, and total cost of ownershipIdentify opportunities to standardize assets, improve scalability, and drive operationalFleet & Equipment OperationsOversee day-to-day management of material handling equipment across multiple locationsEnsure optimal utilization of assets while minimizing downtime and customer up-timeImplement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for material handling equipmentDrive consistency in processes, policies, and asset management practices across all branches Financial Management & Cost ControlOwn and manage the fleet and equipment budget, including capital planning and operating expensesAnalyze and optimize total cost of ownership across all asset categoriesIdentify cost-savings opportunities related to maintenance, utilization and procurementDevelop business cases for capital investments, new equipment, and fleet expansionVendor & OEM ManagementManage relationships with OEM partners, equipment manufacturers, and service providersOversee vendor performance, contract negotiations, and service level agreementsPartner with Procurement to source equipment, parts, etc...Ensure alignment with manufacturer standards, warranties, and maintenance requirementsRequired Skills/Abilities:Strong strategic and operational leadership skills with ability to drive fleet and equipment performanceDeep knowledge of asset lifecycle management, maintenance practice, and cost optimizationProven financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and total cost of ownership analysisAbility to lead and develop teams while driving accountability and resultsStrong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder influence across Service, Operations, and FinanceExperience managing vendors and OEM relationships, including negotiation and performance oversightData driven mindset with experience leveraging systems, reporting, and telematics to improve performanceEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field10+ years of experience in fleet management, equipment management, or service operations5+ years of leadership experience managing teams across multiple locationsExperience managing both vehicles and equipment assets in a service-driven environmentProven experience with budgeting, capital planning, and cost optimization initiativesStrong understanding of asset lifecycle management, maintenance programs, and operational efficiencyWhy Join Us:Develop industry knowledge and grow your careerCollaborate with a supportive team across multiple departmentsMake a direct impact on customer satisfaction and rental operationsCompany BenefitsCompetitive salary and performance-based incentives.Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) plan with company match.Paid time off and company holidays.Opportunities for professional development, training, and certifications.Supportive and collaborative work environment.Pengate Handling Systems is dedicated to being an Equal Opportunity Employer.
