Job DetailsDescriptionAssistant Director – Extended Care Kingswood campers explore Cranbrook's 319-acre campus of playing fields, woods, rivers, lakes, and gardens. They participate in a full schedule that includes swimming, music, sports, drama, arts, yoga, dance, science, nature, archery, canoeing, and tennis. These opportunities provide time for growth and emphasize cooperative team efforts. Field trips and events add to our camp experience. For more information regarding all the camps, please click here: Cranbrook Schools Day Camps at a GlanceResponsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited ToHire, train, manage, and evaluate staffMeet budget requirementsPurchase suppliesSetup and breakdown camp spacesDevelop and operate programAct as main contact for parents regarding all aspects of the camp other than financialsMaintain accreditation and licensing standards and rulesCreate and maintain policies for programQualifications RequiredA Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Education or a related fieldManagement and childcare experienceSuperior problem-solving and management skillsAbility to effectively relate to campers, staff, and parentsPreferred: Prior experience in any of these areas: Camp Administration, Camp Program experience, Child Development, or Performance Development.Timeframe: June 8 to August 9; Weekdays only except first and last. Must be able to work the entire length of camp.Please Note: Assistant Directors are year-round employees. Pre-Season (January – May) and Post-Season (September – December) involve minimal hours spent working on updating camp programs, interviewing candidates for the summer camp season, and exploring professional development offered by the American Camp Association. Work hours during the camp session (June – August) are 40 hours per week, generally 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.Wage: $20.00 per hour.Benefits: Lunch provided during camp session; discounts for children/grandchildren.
