Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Job Purpose Summary: The Psychiatric Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), also known as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to residents in a licensed mental health residential facility. This includes psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support recovery and stabilization. Objectives and Key Results:Medical Orders signed upon admission of the clientPatient needs to be seen within 24 hours of admissionAbility to complete a medication management appointment in30 minutesAbility to complete a psychiatric evaluation in 60minutes Responsibilities Include:Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including mental status exams and diagnostic evaluationsDiagnose and treat mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders in accordance withDSM-5 criteriaPrescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications in compliance with Ohio laws and standards of careDevelop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the clinical teamProvide ongoing medication management and follow-up careMonitor residents for medication efficacy, side effects, and potential interactionsRespond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as neededCollaborate with therapists, nurses, case managers, and other staff to ensure coordinated careMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentationEducate residents and families on diagnoses, medications, and treatment plansParticipate in case conferences, treatment team meetings, and quality improvement initiativesDocumentation-Medication management/ evals-completed and signed within 24 hoursAbility to administer Long-Acting Injectables Proper Knowledge and Skills: Medical Competencies Demonstrates sound knowledge of psychopharmacology, prescribing medications, and DEA/CDS regulationsDemonstrates sound knowledge of ordering and interpreting lab workDemonstrates sound knowledge of diagnostic criteria, DSMV,Demonstrates sound knowledge of administration and interpretation of Clinical Assessment Tools such as AIMS, PHQ9, Columbia ScaleDemonstrates sound knowledge of co-occurring disordersDemonstrates sound knowledge of Crisis management and assessment/management of suicidal ideationProduces high quality and clinically appropriate documentation in a timely manner Core Competencies Proper English and grammar, usage and spellingSoftware application related to the fieldGeneral offices principles and practicesBasic computer knowledge including email etiquetteProfessional phone and customer service demeanorDemonstrate Motivational Interviewing SkillsDemonstrate Cognitive Behavioral TherapyDemonstrate Educational Strategies Physical requirements:Must be able to lift20-50 lbs.Occasional to frequent walking, sitting, standing, drivingClose eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing) Environmental Factors:Communicable diseasesHot/cold temperaturesEnvironmental conditions may vary Required education/qualifications: Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited programCurrent licensure as an APRN in the State of practiceCertification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through American Nurses Credentialing CenterCurrent DEA registration and prescriptive authority in OhioActive Certificate to Prescribe (CTP) in state of practiceMinimum of [1-3] years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings (residential experience preferred) Required experience: Minimum of [1-3] years of experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings (residential experience preferred) Required licenses or certifications: Advanced Practice Nursing Certification/PMHNPMaster or DoctorateDEA/CDSACLS certification
