Revolution School is a small independent high school in Philadelphia with a dynamic opportunity for the right individual.We aim to spark curiosity and build authentic, engaging, and equitable connections — to the places we learn, the people who surround us, and the ideas that inform and inspire us. We are breaking down the traditional physical walls of a classroom — and certain (but not all!) aspects of the traditional model of high school education, including schedules, grades, and siloed classes. Our innovation is in supporting mastery of durable, future-ready competencies alongside core knowledge and foundational skills, through real world, complex, hands-on experience.As a Revolution School educator, you will join our start-up culture, where everyone pitches in, works together, practices conscious leadership, and learns from our shared successes and failures. You will play a vital role in expanding our program and must be comfortable with true collaboration and iterative design — continually improving the learning experiences we deliver.Science Faculty will advance our mission by engaging students in hands-on, inquiry-driven exploration of the natural and designed world, emphasizing curiosity, problem-solving, and real-world application. You will design learning experiences that position students as investigators and thinkers, using experimentation, data analysis, and iteration within stand alone and broadly integrated project-based learning.Your charge Deliver the science curriculum for grades 9 through 12, assessing skills and providing a range of learning opportunities. Design investigations and projects rooted in scientific inquiry. Support students in explaining thinking, analyzing data, and reflecting on process. Facilitate labs and fieldwork as well as active, collaborative, and experiential learning. Assess mastery through performance tasks, labs, and portfolios. Support students’ demonstrations of learning. Integrate interdisciplinary connections with math, humanities, and arts. Co-lead the expansion of our place-, project-, and people-, and play-based program. With the support of a collaborative team, you will create and expand upon programmatic offerings, incorporating student interest, local opportunities, objectives, and standards. Support the culture of our inclusive, joyous, innovative community. Provide experiences that allow for exploration, curiosity, empowerment, and engagement in learning beyond the school settings. Support data collection and evaluation to ensure outcomes are well-measured, meeting student needs and our program expectations, and reported in a way that drives growth. Serve as an advisor supporting academic growth and belonging. You have a background in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or Environmental Science and are comfortable facilitating across all four subjects. You have experience or interest in a project-based approach and inquiry-based instruction. You have a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in a related field. You are comfortable supporting a wide range of learning abilities. You have a commitment to culturally responsive pedagogy, anti-bias practice, and trauma-informed facilitation. You believe learning is relational, personal, and deeply human. You are comfortable working side-by-side with various stakeholders (students, parents, other educators, board members, donors, and everyone in between). You have strong collaboration, reflection, and relationship-building skills and believe that all leadership begins with conscious self-leadership. You are a culture carrier with examples of JOY in your teaching approach. You have diverse personal interests... but mostly science.
