MLW Coder/Laboratory Coder-Full Time

WHITE PLAINS HOSPITAL Lab Med Labs/Westchester Full Time Day Mon-Fri 8a-4p Salary Range: $39,923.72-$59,885.48 Education & Experience Requirements High School Graduate capable of typing 45 wpm. Previous hospital experience preferred. Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes preferred. Medical terminology required. Position Summary Responsible for diagnosis coding for all Laboratory records according to established guidelines. Assists with Laboratory Outreach registrations as the need arises. ICD-10 Coding coordination and follow-up with physician offices. Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. 2. Review and confirmation of all Outreach Laboratory requisitions for appropriate diagnosis coding. 3. Enters appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes in the HIS. 4. Coordinate contacts with physician offices for diagnosis and/or ICD-10 codes if not provided on the referring prescription. 5. Documents phone conversation with physician’s office according to Medicare guidelines. 6. Assists MLW Billing Liaison with patient/client follow-up. 7. Consult with Client Service Rep on client ICD-9 coding education issues. 8. Assists with Outreach Laboratory Registrations as the need arises. 9. Performs other duties as assigned. 10. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
