Tool Installation / Facilities Engineer

Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesOwn assigned tool installation and commissioning scopes from planning through qualification and handoff to operations.Develop and execute installation and commissioning plans aligned with project schedules, factory priorities, and safety requirements.Track progress, risks, and open issues; drive actions to closure with minimal escalation.Serve as the primary coordination point for equipment suppliers (OEMs) during installation and commissioning.Schedule, lead, and participate in commissioning meetings, readiness reviews, and acceptance activities (FAT/SAT).Coordinate supplier activities including tool checkout, system bring-up, testing, and documentation.Track supplier deliverables, action items, and milestones; proactively escalate performance or schedule risks.Partner with Facilities Engineering to verify layouts, utilities, and infrastructure readiness prior to supplier arrival.Validate field execution against approved designs, specifications, and commissioning requirements.Act as the technical point of contact for vendors and contractors; ensure adherence to quality, safety, and site standards.Coordinate qualification activities with equipment and process engineering teams.Ensure commissioning issues are resolved prior to qualification and release to operations.Maintain ownership of installation and commissioning issues through operational handoff.Documentation, Reporting & CollaborationMaintain accurate installation, commissioning, and as-built documentation reflecting actual field conditions.Provide clear status updates on progress, risks, and recovery plans to stakeholders.Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, facilities, and suppliers to support stable transition to production.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related fieldMilitary experience and technical training may be substituted for degree requirements5-6; years of experience supporting tool installation, commissioning, or facilities engineering in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environmentsDemonstrated experience coordinating with equipment suppliers and contractorsSkillsStrong understanding of semiconductor equipment installation and commissioning processesAbility to coordinate FAT, SAT, and on-site commissioning activitiesWorking knowledge of facility utility systems and cleanroom requirementsStrong ownership mindset with consistent follow-throughEffective communication and meeting facilitation skillsAbility to manage multiple execution priorities in parallelWorking ConditionsWork in Class 100/1000 cleanroom environmentsWear full cleanroom attireExposure to chemicals, hazardous and non-hazardous gasesUse of hand and power tools*Physical RequirementsStand for extended periods (up to 10 hours)Lift up to 50 lbs; push/pull up to 150 lbsAbility to work compressed schedules as requiredSafety RequirementsAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
