Equipment Design EngineerAerospace / Advanced Manufacturing12 month contractAn innovative aerospace manufacturing organisation is seeking an Equipment Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This role focuses on the design, development, and delivery of proprietary equipment used to test and manufacture next‑generation aircraft systems.You’ll own equipment design projects from concept through to release and acceptance, working closely with cross‑functional engineering teams in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop equipment to test aircraft subsystems using modern engineering toolsDesign in‑house manufacturing equipment and fixtures, owning the full development lifecycleManage equipment design against functional requirements, technical specifications, schedules, and budgetsCollaborate with internal stakeholders to define scope and requirementsLead and participate in design reviews to ensure requirements are met or exceededSupport equipment build and commissioning, including mechanical design support and sensor selectionOversee equipment assembly activities alongside techniciansConduct FMEA to ensure robust and reliable designsProduce complete mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic documentationSelect and design machine components and integrated systemsPerform tolerance stack‑up analysis to validate system performanceWork closely with electrical and controls engineers to define components and functionalityRequirements5+ years’ experience in equipment design, manufacturing engineering, or related disciplineBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or a related engineering fieldStrong experience with 2D & 3D CAD for layouts, assemblies, and detailed drawingsExperience applying engineering analysis methods to machine and equipment designFamiliarity with NX in a Teamcenter environment (or comparable PLM‑managed CAD tools)Experience commissioning, improving, or bringing up complex equipmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to remain organised and focused in a dynamic, evolving environmentDesirable / Bonus ExperienceDesign of manufacturing or test equipment for electric powertrain or vehicle systemsExperience delivering equipment from concept through final acceptanceExposure to PLM, MES, and ERP systemsHands‑on experience assembling mechanical and electrical equipmentFamiliarity with tools such as Jira, Slack, and collaborative documentation platformsWillingness to travel up to ~10% (domestic and international)
