As a Land Survey Crew Chief at CAGE Civil Engineering, you will lead a survey crew to perform various surveying tasks for civil engineering projects. Your role involves ensuring accurate data collection, conducting different types of surveys, and maintaining high standards of quality.Key Responsibilities:Conduct construction layout, ALTA surveys, topographic, boundary, and as-built surveysBe flexible to work individually or lead and supervise a field survey crewOperate and maintain surveying equipment, including Trimble GPS and roboticsAccurately record and document survey dataCoordinate with survey project managers and engineers to meet survey needsEnsure compliance with safety policiesTrain and mentor junior crew membersStay updated with the latest surveying technologies and methodologiesQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in surveying or related field preferredMinimum of 5 years of land surveying experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory roleProficiency in using total stations, GPS equipment, and data collectorsStrong understanding of survey principles and practicesAbility to read and interpret engineering plansDetail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesValid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sitesExcellent attention to detail and accuracyAbility to read and interpret survey notes, maps, and construction plansStrong organizational and time-management skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamFamiliarity with GPS, total station, and other surveying instruments is a plusPhysical ability to lift and carry up to 50 poundsAbility to perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, squatting, lifting, and moving objects of up to 50 pounds across various terrainsAbility to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasksKnowledge of and compliance with OSHA safety standards and regulationsAdherence to Illinois Department of Labor regulations and federal employment laws, including non-discrimination policiesPreferred Qualifications:Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other surveying software is a plusFamiliarity with local, state, and federal surveying regulationsWhy Work with Us in the FieldOpportunity to GrowOn-the-job training and clear career development pathsSupportive team with experienced mentorsReal opportunities to build a long-term career in land surveyingStrong Team CultureTeam events, company book club, and all-hands gatheringsInclusive environment where everyone's ideas matterDonation match program to support causes you care aboutRewarding CompensationCompensation: $32-$42/hrThe hourly range provided is a general guideline.
