Our Transportation Safety Team provides training and customer service, maintains compliance with company policies and federal / state regulations, and ensures full investigation, review, and resolution recommendations related to accidents and citations. As a Transportation Safety Supervisor, you'll provide frontline departmental leadership across multiple locations. Your daily focus will be on accident / citation review and resolution, and regulatory / policy compliance.Once you're eligible, you'll become an Owner in the company, so we're looking for commitment, hard work, and focus on quality and Customer service. "Partner-owned" means our most important resources--People--drive the innovation, growth, and success that make H-E-B The Greatest Omnichannel Retailing Company.Do you have a:HEART FOR PEOPLE... skills to connect and relate with Drivers to understand their concerns and provide recommendations / solutions to improve safety?HEAD FOR BUSINESS... a sense of how safety compliance affects business?PASSION FOR RESULTS... an ability to investigate and make decisions objectively?We are looking for:3+ years of related experience; communication skillsKey Responsibilities & Essential Functions:Safety / Compliance:Leads a team of Transportation Safety Specialists who provide complete accident / citation review, investigation, and recommendation to comply with H-E-B policyInteracts primarily with Safety Department Partners, drivers, and operational leadershipIdentifies potential transportation safety issues / impacts caused by regulatory changesFacilitates company sponsored / sanctioned driver competitions at all levelsAttends transportation- and driver-related seminars, conferences, competitionsParticipates in continuing education courses on safety, OSHA, transportation topics, and job skill enhancementProvides support / responds to accidents, weather, or other emergency situations involving TransportationConducts accident investigation / reconstruction to determine contributing factors of accidents and other safety-related incidents involving state, local, and federal authoritiesCommunicates accident findings and recommendations to leadershipParticipates in driver accident / citation appeal processMaintains H-E-B safety policies; ensures compliance with federal, state, local regulationsMonitors driver qualification files for accuracy and complianceEnsures pre-employment, random, post-accident, or reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing is performed in compliance with company, legal, regulatory guidelinesPerforms driver citation reviews / audits with motor carrier profile from USDOT, TXDPSServes as liaison officer for all federal, state, and local officialsMonitors / works with Operations leadership on permissible driver hours in accordance with federal hours of service rules and regulationsTraining / Customer Service:Implements innovative transportation safety plans and education programs; reviews them for quality, content, compliance, and consistencyConducts regular safety meetings with drivers and Transportation operations leadershipRepresents H-E-B in state and local safety / transportation organizationsServes as liaison between Transportation and Store operationsThe responsibilities and essential functions outlined above describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Employees may be required to perform other job-related tasks as requested by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodations.Qualifications & Key Requirements:Work Experience: of experience in a transportation - law enforcement safety-related field - Experience with presentations and presenting to cross-functional teams - Experience in process improvement analysis and review -Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Advanced knowledge of federal / state motor carrier regulations, including (OSHA, DOT, state, and EPA) - Strong verbal / written communication skills - Intermediate PC skills, including MS Office - Decision-making, reasoning, and analytical skills - Supervisory and influencing skills - Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks; attention to detail -Education: A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience -Licenses/Certifications: Completion of / current certification from approved safety / compliance organization -Physical Demands & Working Conditions:Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environmentWork extended hours, including occasional evenings, weekends; sit for extended periodsThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a Partner encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
