(Components will be used for School Counselor evaluation in conjunction with measures of student and school growth. Measures of student growth will be aligned with the DeSoto Parish Public School System's accountability measures as outlined in the Louisiana Accountability System.)PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborates with school administration in planning, designing and implementing the school counseling program.Provides counseling for students.Assists students in exploring career awareness and development.Maintains and interprets cumulative records on students.Assists in placement of students.Maintains an up-to-date file on community resources and refers students to appropriate service agencies.Actively seeks professional development opportunities in order to implement innovative approaches to counseling programs.Student advocate and member of system support teams.Plans, organizes and delivers the school counseling program.Collects and analyzes data.Monitors the students on a regular basis as they progress in school.Performs other duties as assigned by the proper authority.PERSONAL QUALITIES:Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with individuals/groups.Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Possesses the knowledge to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.PROFESSIONAL GROWTH:* Growing and Developing Professionally* Reflecting on Teaching and utilizing the IGP as directed by the districtPROFESSIONAL ETHICS (Does not require IAPs.
