Position Summary
The Apprentice – Mechanical HVAC is an entry-level role designed for individuals seeking a career in the HVAC and mechanical construction trade. Working under the guidance of experienced Journeymen and Foremen, the Apprentice assists with installation, assembly, and maintenance of HVAC equipment and mechanical systems on new construction and retrofit projects. This role emphasizes hands-on training, safety awareness, and skill development to support long-term career growth within GEMCO.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Assist with installation of ductwork, HVAC equipment, and roof curbs under supervision
Cut, thread, and prepare pipe using hand tools, pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe-threading machines
Support alignment and installation of mechanical systems to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications
Load, unload, stage, and organize materials, tools, and equipment on job sites
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications as directed
Follow company safety standards and participate in required safety training
Document work performed and communicate progress, issues, or material needs to supervisors
Perform additional duties as assigned to support project completion
